In Brazil, there have been over two decades of steady progress implementing key FCTC measures.

However, progress has slowed. In addition, tobacco-related causes, including heart disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), stroke, and to a lesser extent lung cancer and tuberculosis (TB), are among the leading causes of death.

The report aims to provide policymakers and public health experts with estimates of the potential benefits of tobacco harm reduction (THR), improved cessation, and better access to lung cancer diagnostics and treatment to reduce premature deaths.
